I use AVG, been using it my whole life, it's very easy to use and comes with many other tools like : -AVG Firewall -E-mail scanner -Anti-spam -Link scanner -Internet Security It also doesn't take up much memory so you can just keep it open non-stop. I've never had any problems with viruses and I think this AV really is the best

I use Avira cuz (let me call it) 'she' is officious bitch. It alerts about every freaking danger.. Once i'v been trying to install some simple games and on every damn game 'she' found something bad like adware or sth.. so that's my Umbrella. Btw 'she' drops some notifications sometimes but i think it takes not much memory.. huh..

Avast I'm pleased using it. Takes exactly 160 MB and has a ton of shields. It doesn't slow the computer much but when I play and the programm updates itself a little sh*tty window pops up at the bottom right of the screen and from 22-30 fps drops to 5-10 -.- . Guess what happens in ICC raids

Since i see some of you are in my situation and dont keep a regular antivirus on because of the resource requirements i recommend a little program called Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Its free, you just download it, install, update and can be used to scan systems when you want. It doesnt have a real-time protection module like a normal antivirus, its just used to scan, but its one of the best at this task. Whenever you have an issue and think its a virus try this, could save headache.

I don't use any antivirus on this notebook, cuz it's so old, so it provokes disgust to any virus Really I've turned off the notebook (long, has no battery) in the last years by removing the power cord, I've never used an antivirus (in the period in which I used windows) and it's still working... but it is far, far, exceeded and it's overheating, and it's is very noisy, and very annoying, and I'm sick of it and... I'd like to throw it over window. Beside firewall which is crucial for any operating system, any antivirus you would use, win is liable to infection cuz nowadays most existing programs for win written in C#, Javascript and others (except Java wich is type-safe) have unsafe code, that were designed either to give a good performance, such as C++ (exception - older C is both low from the point of typing-safe and perfomance), or Java, which is type-safe, but poor as performance. So none of today's programs has both criteria so they are easy easy targets for viruses. Ok. What are you talking about ? Most antiviruses are writen in C++ (exception those writen in Assembler - has type-safe and very good perfomance). C++ has good perfomance but it's not type-safe 100% => liable to infection even them, then what to speak of windows.
